משפחה במסע

This is probably the last post about "Farewell from Romania" All my adult life I was a Zionist and I self identified myself as a 100% Israeli woman. I sure felt this way when I lived in other countries and represented Israel in my work. Being surrounded by Israelis and working at the Israeli embassy and the Jewish agency for Israel helped to maintain this feeling. Until I arrived in Romania.  In Romania, I have a Latin group of friends.  To my surprise, I discovered that I feel comfortable and "at home" with them just as much as when I'm with my Israeli friends. This led me to rethink my identity and the education I got at home. I realized that I am not only Israeli, I'm also LATINA. Being raised in a Spanish speaking home with Latin vibes and traditions is part of who I am, even though I didn't give it much of a thought all these years. When the day had come, I wanted to say goodbye to lovely Bucharest, to laugh and have fun after so...

We moved back home 4 days ago, but as soon as we landed we entered in quarantine.  So it doesn't really feel like home yet, plus I got a lot of time to think.... It seems to me that, when a person tastes different countries, each place leaves something in his heart. Looking at the journey I've done until now, every country symbolizes something meaningful in my life path: Argentina is freedom Brazil is love Russia means becoming mature Israel is home and Romania.....  Well,  Romania has taught me another kind of motherhood and for that I will always be grateful. These past three years in Romania were simply amazing for our family. Romania is beautiful, she has an interesting history, honor to traditional arts and nature, great food and most importantly, warm caring people. We will always cherish the memories and the true friendships we made during this period. Thank you dear friends and la revedere Romania! ...

One of the challenges in the expat life, in moving to a new unknown country, is to find the places that make you feel comfortable. As parents, we tend to wait to our family to settle down first, and only than we look after ourselves. During the first two years here, we found lovely restaurants that are kids friendly ( press here for more info ) and cool themed places all over town ( press here ). Luckily for me, I'm beginning my third year in Romania, which means, I'm exactly at that stage when kids are integrated, the house is organized and we have our cute Romanian routine life. So now I have the time to explore more of what Bucharest has to offer me. We came do discover, that Bucharest offers different options of entertainment during summer than during winter. אירוויזיון איזו אסוציאציה המילה הזו מעלה לכם? פייטים, נוצות, דוז פואה, דפנה דקל..... לי היא מעלה זיכרונות של שינה על מזרנים בסלון. ניסיונות נואשים לשמור את העיניים פקוחות ולהצליח להישאר ערה עד סוף ההצבעה. זוכרת איך היינו רוקדות בהפסקה בבית הספר, את "כאן נולדתי" של דץ ודצה משל היו ריקוד מושחת של פטריק סוויזי ו"בייבי".  בתקופת האירוויזיון היינו מכינות טבלאות ומנקדות את השירים, מהמרות על גוגואים ומנסות לנחש מי תהייה המנצחת. כן.... אין ספק שאני מאוהבות תחרות השיר הזו. תחרות שמוכיחה שאנחנו אירופה ולא רק אסיה, תחרות שמביאה איתה ניחוח מערבי עתיק, טירות, מלכות ואבירים. כן, מותק, אנחנו באירוויזיון! שפתון אדום והכיתוב אירוויזוין מאחור, ניחוח אירופאי באוויר חוגגים אירוויזיון ברומניה השנה, האירוויזיון מתקיים בישראל וזו ממש הרמה להנחתה לכל הנציגויות הרשמיות שלנו באירופה. כי מי לא רוצה להיות חלק מארוע צבעוני, ליברלי וסובלני כמו האירוויזיון? ארוע כזה, ראוי לקדם ולשווק ברשתות החברתיות, לקהל צעיר ודינאמי. אם ישראל רוצה לקדם את עצמה מול המילאניאל'ס הרומנים, כד...
